LIFE SINCE GRADUATION
After graduation, Kim and I got married in June and spent much of the next year in East Africa driving around by ourselves in a Toyota jeep and sleeping in a backpacking tent in a double sleeping bag. Spent a few weeks in Rwanda near Lake Kivu with Rosamond Carr and met Diane Fosse and her gorillas. This began a lifelong love of Africa, which has led to involvement on the board of African Wildlife Foundation (www.AWF.org) and yearly trips.
Then law school, three kids before 32, commuting for 30+ years to NYC from LI, had a fascinating career at Winthrop Stimson, after 2001 Pillsbury Winthrop, financing commercial/business aircraft. This took me all over the world, since before the internet those deals were largely done in person. Fortunately I married an incredible woman who brought up three remarkable, athletic children when I was on the road. Fifteen years of AAA travel hockey and squash tournaments. Got sucked into management at the firm, stuck it out in NYC until 62, trained up younger partners to take over, and then took the Fla. Bar (that was tough) and opened the Pillsbury office in Palm Beach in 2012. My career morphed into working on business jets, family office investments, and serving on for-profit and not-forprofit boards. I have a very busy and interesting business life.
Approaching our 50th wedding anniversary, we are blessed to have a very strong family unit of three happily married children with fantastic spouses who have produced 11 grandchildren whom we are lucky enough to see a lot. We spend seven months based in Palm Beach, ski as much as possible, spend time on LI and North Haven, Me., in the summer, and travel when Covid permits.
